HOW POINTS ARE KEPT IN SCCA LVR

Actually, it isn't that complicated but, if you don't have the "key" you will certainly be lost!

MEMBERSHIP

To start off with you must be an SCCA member in order to accumulate points for year end trophies. Once that hurdle is crossed you will collect points as follows:

POINTS

(1st=20), (2nd=16), (3rd=13), (4th=11), (5th =9), (6th=7), (7th=6), then 5,4,3,2,1.

DROPS

Next we drop one of every six events. So if we have run twelve events we will drop your two lowest scoring events, if we run eighteen events we will drop your three lowest scoring events. By doing this we make the year end points more nearly fair for those who can't attend every event throughout the year. This is where those "Gross" and "Adjusted" points come from. Gross is before any events are dropped, Adjusted if after the one in four drop is completed. Trophies are awarded based on the ADJUSTED POINTS TOTALS.

MINIMUM EVENTS REQUIREMENT

The next thing that you need to know is that you need only attend six events during the year to qualify for a trophy. That doesn't mean that you will necessarily get a trophy but, if you have attended the minimum six events you will probably get a trophy.

CLASSING YOUR CAR

In order to qualify for a trophy you will need to accumulate sufficient points to beat your competitor. This is best done by competing in a single class all year long. It is important to classify your car correctly on your registration card. Once your registration card shows your car number, your name and your class the points keeper can do his job.

TROPHIES IN MORE THAN ONE CLASS

A competitor may win trophies in multiple classes. As long as you meet the minimum events standard, you will be awarded a trophy commensurate with your class standing.

TROPHY AWARDS

Las Vegas Region, as a minimum, complies with paragraph 11.1 of the SCCA SOLO Rule Book for the quantity of awards given for the number of participants in any one class. However, we are generally much more liberal in our year end awards presentations. Let it be said that if you compete and meet the minimum number of events criteria you will probably get a trophy.

Las Vegas Region SOLO II awards trophies for:

CLASS AWARDS (as indicated by paragraph 11.1)

TOP TIME OF DAY MENS (first through third)*

TOP TIME OF DAY WOMENS (first through third)*

TOP PAX OVERALL (first through third)*

PICKLED PYLON (most pylons hit)

SPECIAL AWARDS (as appropriate)

* Carts and Full Bodied Cars for a total of six trophies if required.
